Hereās the latest:Rockstar Games has officially pushed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI to November 19, 2026, as part of TakeāTwo Interactiveās second quarter earnings announcement. The Guardian+2Reuters+2
In their statement, Rockstar said the extra time is all about delivering āthe level of polish you expect and deserve.ā Take-Two echoed that, saying Rockstar has their full support and theyāre confident this will be a blockbuster entertainment experience.
When asked about what changed since the original Fall 2025 target, CEO Strauss Zelnick said:
āItās- itās all of 2025. Weāve had more time to develop the title. ⦠Weāre grateful that itās still within the same fiscal year. And mostly weāre grateful to Rockstar for constantly seeking perfection.ā
š¹ A bit of context ā Why this isnāt totally unexpected
The game was previously delayed from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. The Guardian+1
But now? Itās moved again to November 2026. Reuters+1
Looking back, Rockstar has a history of delays:
The predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V, was originally slated for Spring 2013 but ended up launching September 17, 2013. GameSpot+2GTA Forums+2
The PC version of GTA V faced multiple delays too, landing in April 2015 after multiple pushes. Wikipedia+1
So while the wait stings, itās part of the pattern.
š What this means for us gamers
More patience required.Ā The game is still āwithin the fiscal yearā for Take-Two, but itās a longer runway than many expected.
Quality over speed.Ā Rockstarās message is clear: theyād rather delay than release something undercooked.
Hype remains massive.Ā With a November 2026 date, this doesnāt dampen the expectation in fact, the pressure might be even higher.
Manage expectations now.Ā If you were counting on playing it sooner, youāll need something to tide you over (hello backlog).
As always, weāll keep our eyes on any new teasers, trailers, or gameplay drops. And yes ā when we get a firm price, preorder details, or special editions, youāll hear it here first.
š£ What do you all think? Worth the wait for top-level polish, or are you losing faith in the delays?
